A local independent business is continuing to invest in Hastings town centre after taking over a neighbouring unit on Castle Street.

Shoe Shuffle, based at 11 Castle Street, has confirmed it has expanded into the property next door, with plans to open the additional space in the coming months.

The business, which stocks a range of popular brands including Dr. Martens, Fly London and Birkenstock, said the expansion has not been without its challenges.

In a post shared online, the owners revealed delays caused by unexpected issues inside the building, including structural concerns and limited electrical infrastructure.

They said: “Between uncovering some very questionable DIY from previous tenants… and discovering only one working plug socket in the entire building, our quick turnaround has hit a few bumps.”

Despite this, the team is now aiming for a May opening.

The expansion is seen as a positive step for the local high street, particularly in an area where several commercial units have remained empty in recent years.

By taking on the additional space, the business is not only growing but also helping to bring another vacant shop back into use.

Shoe Shuffle is an independent, family-run business and has thanked customers for their continued support, highlighting the role local shoppers play in keeping the high street active.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 9:00am to 5:30pm.
