Popular Bexhill snack wagon given two weeks’ notice after 13 years at Parker’s site
A well-known snack wagon in Bexhill has been told to leave its long-standing pitch, leaving the owner facing an uncertain future.
A long-established snack wagon in Bexhill has been given just two weeks’ notice to leave its trading location after more than a decade in the same spot.
Blightys, located in the car park of Parker Building Supplies on Beeching Road, has been serving customers for around 13 years. Owner Mark says he was recently told he must remove the wagon by May 13.
In a post shared online, Mark said: “I have been given notice to remove Blightys snack wagon… without any explanation. I have been trading for 13 years and to say I’m shocked is an understatement.”
When visited on April 30, Mark said he is now trying to understand his options, including seeking legal advice, while also looking at how he might relocate the business at short notice.
The situation has raised concerns due to the limited time available, with the potential impact not only on the business but also on Mark’s ability to support his family.
Despite the situation, Mark was clear that the decision is not linked to staff at the local Parker’s branch, stating he has known the manager for many years and has always had a good relationship with the team on site.
Blightys has become a familiar part of the local area, attracting regular customers and building a reputation within the community. During a visit on April 30, there was a steady flow of customers, with many expressing support for the business.
Mark is also known locally for small acts of generosity, including providing food for dogs free of charge.
Parker Building Supplies is part of IBMG, a national group with over 100 branches across the UK. On its website, the company highlights its focus on supporting local communities.
